IP Fabrics CALEA System Selected by Douglas FastNet Internet Serivices
DeepSweep™ for CALEA system provides "safe harbor" to meet FCC requirements Beaverton, OR – July 26, 2007 - IP Fabrics, Inc. announced today that the Internet Service division of Douglas Fast Net's of Roseburg, OR has selected IP Fabrics’ DeepSweep for CALEA system to provide CALEA compliance, beating the FCC deadline of May14, 2007. DeepSweep was chosen over several other solutions due to the system’s openness and extensibility combined with full compliance with the ATIS T1.IAS specification, which offers safe harbor.
The Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) was originally enacted in 1994, but was recently extended to include Broadband Internet Access Services and VoIP Services in order to assist law enforcement agencies to execute authorized surveillance of digital communications. Services providers can comply with CALEA in various ways, including purchasing complaint solutions from vendors and are offered safe harbor if the solution adheres to industry standards, such as T1.IAS. “We are proud that DFN has met the CALEA compliance deadline,” stated Douglas Fast Net's manager Todd Way. “DeepSweep compliance with the T1.IAS spec ensures we will be able to provide the authorities with critical intercept data as well as have ‘safe harbor’ with the FCC.” The IP Fabrics DeepSweep™ for CALEA is the first self-contained network surveillance system that provides with Broadband and VoIP CALEA compliance. Ideal for small and medium-sized ISP and VoIP networks, a single DeepSweep system functions as the complete CALEA compliance solution, providing the probe, mediation/delivery, and administration functions, which are commonly implemented as separate devices. “We are pleased that we were able to leverage the product for our network analysis needs, and the assistance provided with the proprietary aspects of the system for the purposes of establishing intercept guidelines has been invaluable,” said Chance Newkirk – Network Engineer for Douglas Fast Net. “The advanced packet filtering functions offered by the DeepSweep provide us with the ability to gather useful and highly granular data for engineering purposes from high-speed links in a cost-effective manner, enabling us to use the DeepSweep for a number of purposes in addition to ensuring CALEA compliance" About IP Fabrics IP Fabrics, founded in 2002 and located in Beaverton, Oregon, is venture fundedby Northwest Venture Associates, Intel Capital, Frazier Technology Ventures, and Ignition Partners.
